Composer, Performer and Sound Designer

Terumi Narushima, the composer, performer and sound designer of You’ve Mistaken Me for a Butterfly, is a Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of Wollongong.

She is a composer, performer and sound designer specialising in alternative tuning systems and microtonal music. Her major works include the sound installation Tritriadic Chimes, created for LA MicroFest, Hidden Sidetracks for custom-built instruments, premiered by Ensemble Offspring at the Sydney Opera House, and Mizu No Rin, commissioned by Synergy Percussion.

Narushima has collaborated extensively with filmmakers and theatre practitioners. She composed and performed the music for Yasukichi Murakami: Through a Distant Lens, which has been presented at the Darwin Festival, OzAsia Festival, Griffin Theatre Company and Riverside Theatres Parramatta. More recently, she composed and performed the music for Lost in Shanghai, presented at the 2022 Sydney Festival.

She performs with the microtonal ensemble Clocks and Clouds and is the author of Microtonality and the Tuning Systems of Erv Wilson (Routledge, 2018). Her research also includes collaborative projects developing microtonal flutes using 3D-printing technology.

『あなたは私を蝶と間違えた』の作曲・演奏家、サウンドデザイナー、鳴嶋輝美さんはウーロンゴン大学音楽学部上級講師でもある。

オルタナティブ・チューニング・システムを専門とする作曲家、演奏家、サウンドデザイナー。主な作品に、LAマイクロフェストのためのサウンドインスタレーション「Tritriadic Chimes」、シドニーオペラハウスでEnsemble Offspringが初演したカスタムメイド楽器のため　「Hidden Sidetracks」　を作曲、Synergy Percussionへの委嘱作品「Mizu No Rin」等。

様々な映画や演劇とのコラボレーションも行っており、「ヤスキチムラカミ：スルーアディスタントレンズ」では作曲及び演奏を行い、ダーウィン・フェスティバルやオズアジア・フェスティバル、シドニーのグリフィン・シアターやパラマッタ・リバーサイド・シアターで上演されている。最近では２０２２年のシドニー・フェスティバルにて『Lost in Shanghai』の作曲、演奏を担当した。

微分音アンサンブル『Clocks and Clouds』とともに演奏し、著書「Microtonality and the Tuning Systems of Erv Wilson」（2018年）はRoutledge社から出版されている。そのほか、3Dプリンティングを用いた微音フルートの開発に関する共同研究なども手がけている。
